I never used Pictomio until now to manage videos, but now that I've bought a camcorder I'm starting organising my shots. I've noticed that the videos captured by my camcorder (an entry level model from Sony, which records straight on its hard disk) do not show up in the Pictomio thumbnail views, and also when Pictomio tries to play them only the sound is played, with no video at all. As far as I know, this Sony camcorder records in standard MPEG format, as confirmed also by the GSpot utility:

When I use the Direct X GraphEdit utility, this is the DirectShow chain used:

And in fact, the movie plays normally inside any Windows application. But in Pictomio, this is what is shown:

Any idea on what's going on?

Thanks!

Hi,

do you get some kind of message in the top left corner if you view the movie in the "Singe Image" view?
It would be helpful if you could send me a small test videofile (support1@pictomio.com) to reproduce the problem.

Kind regards

I see that I forgot to answer here: no, no message is displayed, apart from the fact that in the info tab on the window's right side Pictomio says that the movie is 1x1 pixel large!

I did it two days ago, I hope you have received it in the mean time.

Any news on this problem? Have you been able to reproduce it in your labs?

Thanks.

Hi wrongworld,

sorry for my late reply but I was on vacation ;)
On my PC I could play the video with pictomio but it was flickering.
A developer will have a look on it and hopefully he can tell me more.

Kind regards
Bleker

It's now a month that I've posted the original message. Bleker, did your developer discover what was wrong with that MPEG file?

Also, any news regarding the new version?

Thanks.

Hi wrongworld,

sry for my late reply. There is a problem with directshow and this kind of MPEG videos. It is on our tasklist but it'll take some time to fix it because there are other, more importend, tasks ;)

Kind regards
Bleker
